We're delighted to have the talented Celia Geraedts from Blueprint Amsterdam joining the AMK collective!
With decades of experience working with indigo, Celia will welcome us into her world for a truly hands-on workshop. You’ll dive into the rich history of natural indigo, discover its living, breathing magic, and experience the beauty of this ancient dye process up close.
The 3,5 hour 'Introduction to Indigo' Workshop is a fun and creative way to explore natural indigo.
During the workshop, Celia will take you through the basics of natural indigo, its history, and some background information.
You will also learn what a vat of natural indigo consists of, and how dipping and dyeing actually works.
After the theory, we will learn the basics of Itajami Japanese Shibori - a clamp resist technique that gives beautiful patterns.
You will dye 4 Hemp Fabric Napkins, great to dress the table during a home dinner! The hemp fabric we use is European Hemp Fabric.
