"At Tommy Hilfiger, we're working towards an inclusive and circular future for fashion, where we Waste Nothing and Welcome All. Tommy For Life is a program where we invite you to help us create a fully circular system that puts pre-loved Tommy pieces -or those that are damaged from our operations- back in action, heady to be loved again by someone else. Since 2020, we've been able to keep over 100,000 kg of textile from going to waste."

Tommy for Life is a new circular business model that will take pre-owned or damaged Tommy Hilfiger and Tommy Jeans garments and either fix them or ‘remix’ them into completely new, limited-edition styles. They will then be resold exclusively at

The programme is split into three product lines.

Reloved: Previously owned products traded-in by consumers.

Refreshed: Restored items from store and e-commerce returns.

Remixed: Products beyond repair that are taken apart and used to create new, unique designs. This last category will be launched next year.

The designs are created in the Amsterdam office by the team working for Tommy for Life. All design decisions and details are based on the availability of the garments that are available for the up-cyle process. This makes the whole design, development and production set up unique and different form the normal fashion industry: it's an inherently sustainable mindset.

The different design solutions and ideas were first created into a sample collection. The collection is entirely based on the wasted garments. We fitted all styles and discussed fit, and how we could make the garments ready to be bulk produced with the challenge of limitation of old stock and materials.

The puzzle is to have designs that are open for a big variety so more old garments and stock can be used in the same styles. Therefore each design is given specifications that are general enough to be applied to as wide as possible a range of leftover stock.

All denim styles were made as blankets in this collection, and for those styles we created a base pattern for the atelier and suppliers to produce from. Each design received a pattern and a size spec with the special grading and sizing. We made a unisex numeric grading 1-2-3-4, that fits all genders and bodies.

Tommy Hilfiger launches circular initiative,

Tommy For Life

“‘Tommy for Life’ provides solutions to one of our industry’s greatest challenges: switching from a “take-make-waste” approach to a model in which we keep products and materials in use as long as possible. Our investments in a business model that pioneers this at this scale and complexity will have true impact - not only on our brand, but on the future of the industry as a whole.”

said Martijn Hagman, Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe CEO.

Tommy for Life is part of the brand’s broader Make it Possible sustainability initiative - as part of it the brand has previously announced a goal to make products that are fully circular and that can be part of a sustainable loop by 2030."
