Introduction Pattern making 12 / JUL
Learn how to start making your own clothes
Welcome to this introduction to pattern-making workshop, a first step into understanding how clothes are created, shaped, and made to fit the human body. Together we will explore the basics of body anatomy, movement, and proportion, and discover why clothing can sometimes feel uncomfortable when design does not match the body’s natural form.
We will look at what a sewing pattern actually is, how flat shapes become three-dimensional garments, and how designers translate ideas into wearable pieces.
You will also learn the essential tools and materials needed to begin creating your own wardrobe, from measuring and drafting to fabric selection and construction basics.
This workshop is designed for beginners who are curious about fashion, making clothes, or simply understanding how garments work.
By the end, you will have a clearer understanding of the relationship between body, comfort, and design, and the confidence to start developing your own creations.
